When you’re tucked in the mountains of Colorado, catering to tourists on a daily basis, your location needs to be pretty spectacular to win business from the competition. Danny Eilts, owner of Shelbee’s Gas and Convenience, along with the help of his Store Manager, Tom Fisk, have mastered this very challenge.
Danny is the owner of two sites, Lake Dillon Conoco and Frisco Conoco. His Frisco location, the most impressive of the two, is just five years old, and a complete rebuild. It’s an attractive two-story facility which features six dispensers, a two-bay carwash and a full Wendy’s restaurant, complete with drive-thru.
When building the Frisco location, the Colorado landscape was put into high consideration. The facility, including canopy, were constructed to blend with the mountainside. They also made sure to utilize their space well, making sure the islands were spread out so that gas pumps would allow access to motor homes and other recreational vehicles.
When asked what makes them different from their competitors, they believe that, while there are a few other stations in the area, their facility is one of the most attractive and roomiest. “We have a full-time maintenance person for the grounds, which includes Wendy’s and the car wash,” said Dan.
“We also have a great service attitude and personally train all our staffers to provide friendly and courteous service to our customers,” stated Tom.
Why CarterEnergy?
“I’ve been working with CarterEnergy for six years now,” said Danny. “Our Area Manager has been a lot of help over the years, providing consulting with regard to in-store ideas as well as pricing strategies. We see him at least once—if not twice—a month in the store and we speak on the phone several times each week. He’s been a huge asset, especially when Dillon’s first started. He’s a good person to have on your side.”
He continued by stating, “Our previous vendor wasn’t a lot of help; we were lucky if we saw him once a year. Not only that, they just sold us fuel. CarterEnergy has added so much value to our business.”
